Time to Talk About Dental Insurance
November 17th 2017
2017 is almost over, and that means it’s time to talk about dental insurance. Most dental plans don’t let the benefits roll over into the next year if they go unused. If you haven’t yet taken advantage of all your benefits, then now is the time to do so!

Commonly Covered Procedures
With dental insurance you can never be sure what exactly insurance will cover, as each plan is so different from each other. Typically with dental insurance your routine hygiene visit are typically covered at 100%, unless you have periodontal disease then there is typically an out of pocket expense as these cleanings are considered a dental procedure. Crowns and other restoration procedures are covered at a percentage based upon your insurance benefits and there is always an out of pocket expense associated with those procedures. Whenever you diagnosed with any dental treatment it is always smart to call your insurance company and verify your dental coverage. We can also run a courtesy dental treatment pre-authorization, this is where we send the dental treatment to be done to your insurance and they will verify if you have coverage for that particular procedure and how much you will be expected to pay. This process can take up to three weeks and you will get a letter from your insurance company with specifics for this procedure. Don’t be afraid to ask any questions, this is your money and you should be using it to keep your smile healthy.
What to Do Before the Year Ends
As we come to the end of the year and you still have dental insurance benefits it is beneficial to you to try and get your treatment done before the year closes. Typically with most dental insurances they will not roll over any unused benefits. If you have $1500 in dental benefit and you have not used any of it, you are throwing away all that money at the end of the year. No one wants to spend their holiday season in pain or in discomfort, call us today and we will get you smiling through the holiday season!
